Sapporo Ramen - @ West Colonial Orlando, FL

Updates: Took my mom here a couple of days later and she didn't like the ramen. We haven't tried any other broth so I think I'll take some other folks to give it another shot. Their takoyaki is fantastic and I didn't mind the other dishes. I guess maybe the takoyaki's got me too enamored to hate the other dishes? We'll see next time!

Spotted Sapporo Ramen while shopping for groceries at 1st Oriental Market. It piqued my interest and I wanted to try it. Then, I saw takoyaki on the menu, let out a little pig squeal and gave Josh little chance to resist the lunch option. I'll be honest, I'm addicted to takoyaki. Golden balls of dough filled with octopus or seafood, topped with bonito flakes, mayonnaise and sauce. My description either disgusted you to the core or made you salivate. There's really no middle ground here.  If they make it right, the takoyaki is golden brown with a thin crispy outer layer on the outside. Inside there's tender octopus for every bite.

 Beef Curry Rice

Ramen with bone broth

Being that this place has ramen on in its name, besides my beloved takoyaki ($3), I also order the bone soup ramen ($8). The broth was creamy and infused with beef flavor. The toppings included 4 slices of tender beef, bamboo shoots, pickled ginger and one slice of fish cake that looked pretty but didn't taste like fish.  Josh ordered the beef curry rice ($8) because he wanted to be American and boring.  Being the curry snob that he is, his overall rating of the dish was "it's alright". He's a man of few words..... To me, it wasn't amazing but it was good standard Japanese curry. I also thoroughly enjoyed the takoyaki and the ramen. My favorite topping is the sliced beef because it was tender and went well with the creamy broth and noodles. There's different broths you can choose to customize your ramen experience. If you don't like ramen there's a slew of vegetarian options in terms of udon stir fry and more.

It was a big bowl of ramen so if you're a small eater bring a companion you can bully into eating your leftovers.  An example of easily bullied people can be seen below. Noodle soups are really gross the next day so finish it while it's fresh!
